Alright, what's the story here... well... as has happened in times past, my good friend Joe Cam asked me if I could arrange something for a project he was putting together. (If this doesn't ring a bell, visit the tracks from Bound Together to see what I'm referring to.) This time, the project was "KK Setlist" featuring remixes from the Animal Crossing soundtrack, and well, I'd never played the game nor had I heard the soundtrack.

To be frank, when I heard the soundtrack, my first reaction was... "is this serious?" The music—to one who had never played the game—was really weird, simple, and rather unpleasant (at least in my own opinion). I wasn't a fan. It took some time for me to wrap my head around it, and ultimately I landed on the "K.K. Safari Aircheck" theme, as it did some interesting things with the timing that I felt I could get into.

That said, I've mentioned in the past that I'm not one to let a good sample pack go to waste... and yet, I had spent some funds on a particularly polished—and weird—pack known as "Keys to the City." (I refer to this on my Keyz to New Junk City track, among others.) For some reason, fusing this sample collection with the Animal Crossing theme seemed right, and ya know what... I'm darn proud of what I've come up with here. Sure, it's synthy, very strange, and goes a few steps beyond the original, but I like it. And that's something, coming from a guy who didn't like the original, like, at all.

Joe Cam, I hope you dig it; ya know, when you ask for a Mazedude mix, sometimes it's a bit of a leap, but I gotta be me. :)
