As with many musicians, there are moments in both my professional and personal life where I heard something and was truly struck with a "what is that?!" feeling. I've spoken of it before in regards to my introduction to electric bass solos, to various tracker subgenres, and beyond, but for the sake of this description I can say the same thing happened to me the first time I ever heard an Astor Piazzolla tango. I was hooked; his blendings of piano, bandoneon, cello, and orchestra were truly remarkable. What could come across as dissonant instead came across as beautiful, melodic, and captivating.

So, as many of my remixes go, I thought it'd be fun to try and pay homage to that particular genre. Doing so with a computer, well, it wasn't easy, or ideal. Really, I was just chopping up samples from Astor's work and trying to make it fit the Space Pirates theme from Metroid Prime in this case, and the result is sorta mixed. Yes, it was fun to explore the genre, but did it do it justice? I'm not sure. If it helps to bring awareness to work of a Piazzolla, cool, if it strikes a chord with Metroid Prime fans, cool, otherwise consider this a Mazedude experiment to be added to his collection of random oddball genre experiments. :)
