Ok, first off, I sheepishly admit that I forgot part of the bassline in this, and that there's a whole portion of the original that I forgot to include. I made this remix late one night, and late into the night, from memory, without listening to the original first. I like the result, but I do feel bad for screwing up.

That said... I freakin' love this theme. As a kid, I used a tape recorder to record this song from the NES game while playing it, so I could listen to it in my room while I did other stuff... among other songs. In fact, well before I started composing or remixing "officially", I dabbled with rearranging this song for brass quartet, since I was a trombone player as a young man. I never finished it, but it showed my enthusiasm, heh.

Making this into acid jazz was fun. It gave me the opportunity to use many samples I wouldn't otherwise use that much... like drum loops. I don't encourage the use of drum loops ever, unless it's done with subtilty, like I did here. Those, and guitar loops, bass loops, sax loops... all chopped up and changed up, and blended nicely. And yes, that is me on the trombone, but only soloing at the end, and for that little stylishly-poorly-played middle bit. The softer brass sounds throughout the piece are all samples.
