It's interesting when you're old enough to witness major anniversaries for games that you remember the release of as a kid. That's happened a lot with me - Chrono Trigger, Metroid, Mega Man, and others... but it's extra special cool when you get to be a part of an album (official or otherwise) that celebrates that anniversary. I was fortunate to be a part of that for Mega Man, and also here for Metroid. Admittedly, I was more a fan of playing the early Metroid games 1-3, but, I did really appreciate and enjoy the soundtracks to the Prime games as well.
That said, this awesome album by the Bad Dudes - probably one of our compilations I go back and listen to the most, actually - is killer, and I have a whopping three tracks on it. Yes, one of them is the same piece I wrote for Heroes vs. Villains (it just fit really well on this one too), but the other two are some newer nods to Metroid Prime that I had a lot of fun with.
You may notice that I have a re-released mix of my Tallon Overworld track shown here. That's because, well, I actually like it better than the master the made it to the official album... and that's weird, because it's the homemade mix I did with an outdated version of ProTools. It's weird like that, going through the mastering phase... sometimes things get overproduced, and it's my fault for allowing a master onto the finished album that I wasn't 100% happy with... but I do really like the version I'm showcasing here, so, I hope you enjoy it.
